Momentum Grows to Finish the Task!

How encouraging to see an enthusiastic group of Discipleship Training School students step forward to help take the gospel to the unreached!

When the 2011 Go Conference was cancelled, Mark Baxter (YWAM Jacksonville) and Andy Schmalfus (YWAM Metro New York) organized an equivalent conference in August, in Cincinnati, Ohio, for YWAM bases east of the Mississippi River.

Three bases and two DTSs attended. The conference was held in a Vineyard church and the evening sessions were open to them.

Steve Gregg spoke on discipleship in the mornings. That's not your typical frontier missions topic but it came with a powerful impact on everyone's life. Robby Dawkin's ("Furious Love") - spoke in the evenings on power evangelism. The worship in all the sessions was powerful as well as the prayer times for the unreached. YWAM's Frontier Missions leader, Gina Fadely gave a powerful message on the task remaining. On the last evening there was a large response - well over 75% of the DTS students attending - to the call to take the gospel to the unreached.

Mark and Andy are believing that God will multiply GO and Finish the Task so that every region of America can have an accessible conference for their DTS students. All the staff in attendence have commented how many students have a clear call to pioneer work among unreached peoples and of the need to provide opportunities to pursue that.

Another single male told me "I want to do something really challenging in church planting among unreached peoples." What I learned at the Finish the Task conference was that both YWAM Jacksonville and YWAM Metro New York are experiencing the same thing -- quantity and quality -- in the intakes of their DTSs.

Some people are interpreting this as a beginning to the fulfillment of a prophetic word that large numbers of North Americans would be responding to a call to take the message of salvation where it has not been before.
