Prayer Requested for London, England!

YWAM has a number of teams living and serving in the city of London, England, where riots and looting over the last three days have brought destruction and fear to the streets.

As the city struggles to control outbreaks of violence, local YWAMers and the Olympic outreach team request your prayers for London, host of the 2012 Olympics, and home to thousands of unreached people from a multitude of nations. YWAM teams are participating in cleaning up their streets and in prayer walks through the city. You can also participate through prayer!

Your prayers are particularly requested for the following:

• For the police force and those involved in the judicial process and their governing bodies: They will need wisdom, effective strategies and self-control.

• For the young people of London : The inner city youth are largely neglected by the church, with some living areas that are only 1% Christian, and believers are of another generation. Many of them are unemployed, under-educated and are easily pushed into violence by criminal elements. Pray that God will visit those young people who have been involved in the riots and looting, through dreams and visions, through meetings with followers of Jesus, through the searing of their conscience so they will turn from their violent ways to embrace the Way of reconciliation and peace.
  
• For YWAM teams working among young people of the inner city : for more workers, for necessary funding and for effective strategies to reach these youth. Pray also for their protection and the protection of their property in this volatile situation.

• For those in places of influence within the city - not just the politicians, police and big decision making bodies, but also those within the local communities, and also on the streets - in the youth gangs & groups etc. That leaders would rise up from within those places who are courageous to stand and speak for and move in the opposite direction from a path of violence. That they can influence their friends to fight for something good, unifying and that blesses.

• For the spiritual battle over the city, as the Olympics approach. Millions of people from all belief systems are coming to London to be part of the Games; tens of thousands are coming to bring the message of Jesus. Let the people of God unite in prayer for London, that evil will be suppressed and the way may be opened for the gospel.
