YWAM Haiti Staff in Need of a Break – You can Help!
The one year anniversary of the earthquake which devastated Haiti has come and gone, and while there has been progress, there is much to be done. Our YWAM volunteers in Haiti have worked above and beyond the call of duty. When the earthquake struck, they were still working on community redevelopment projects launched in the aftermath of the hurricane of 2008. They responded to the even greater tragedy of the earthquake with sacrificial courage and energy. You can read reports of their progress at their website : www.ywamhaiti.org .
It has been a traumatic year, as you can imagine, for our permanant YWAM teams in Haiti. Many of them are exhausted from having hosted hundreds, perhaps thousands of people who came to help minister to the needs of the victims of the earthquake and cholera outbreak. These staff are now in need of rest, refreshment, and debriefing. The leadership of YWAM Haiti is taking time during these next few weeks to pray and evaluate what God wants their priorities to be for this year and what their needs are from the past years' experiences. This is very important for their long-term health, both as individuals and as a ministry.
Can You Help?
Regional director, Bill Landis, is working with the national leaders in Haiti to try and find mature, experienced staff from other YWAM teams who can come to serve Haiti for up to three months to offer respite to the staff in Haiti, along with the opportunity for debriefing and . DO NOT WRITE TO THE STAFF IN HAITI TO OFFER YOUR SERVICES! But if you are interested in helping in this way, please contact Bill THIS WEEK at : blcaribdir@gmail.com for more information.
You can also donate to help staff in Haiti get away for a time of rest and refreshment. Bill is asking each YWAMer and each ministry center to prayerfully consider giving a gift to express your concern for their present need of refreshment. He says, “I know it will bring great encouragement to the YWAM Haiti staff. It's a tangible expression of our love and appreciation for our fellow YWAMers. The size doesn't matter, it just shows our concern for them.”
